Deliver Us From Swedish Furniture
….and lead us into Shenanigans
Our father, who art in the markets, hallowed be thy name….
A few years ago I was sitting in the airport in Kuala Lumpur and read an article in one of the papers in their investing section and there was a fantastic article about why people should invest in the Malaysian markets and not those faster growing ones in Thailand or Korea or in one more mature like Singapore or the USA because Malaysians are morally superior and, this was the bit that got me….Muslim! Now I thought the whole idea of usery, and hence banking and pretty much all the financial services industry was, well slightly frowned upon? Still, you would have thought that in countries that have a history of investing for their futures in the markets would be a little more circumspect in this sort of thing wouldn’t you? I mean you hear about those folk in China ploughing their life-savings into a company because the name is auspicious and laughing as it is obvious for us Westerners that ploughing money into the markets on nothing more than a prayer/astrological symbol/the one selected by Sammy the stock selecting labrador is a sure way to go broke. Well someone has now carefully researched and packaged this approach up, so now you can go broke with a pious, holier than thou attitude - it’s called Money on Loan from God and it’s now available to you in eleven easy parts…..
