Thriller of Fulham Broadway (oh and Mind the Gap)
Author: tulip
After I had mentioned the Bhangra Stylee version of Thriller and the Thai jail version of Thriller, we now have the London Tube Version. The thing that made me laugh was the ‘Englishness’ of it all - everyone tried not to look, then gave a polite round of applause at the end…..ah bless!

Author: tulip
A friend of mine makes t-shirts for a living….now I know what you are thinking, there are tons of t-shirts out there for the likes of Led Zeppellin, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Hendrix, but these are slightly off the beaten track from the usual and cater to the…how can I put it….the music snob in us
These are the designs -
and if that doesn’t appeal, there is always this one…although we could never be seen to condone such a viewpoint ![]()

They only did it ‘cos of fame - EMI
Author: tulip
As I mentioned in my earlier post, EMI are getting rid of an awful lot of staff and several of their artists are getting a bit upset, claiming that they don’t know if they will get properly promoted. Radiohead and Macca have already left the label and now the likes of Kylie Mingogue and Coldplay are making similar noises. Robbie Williams is the one that is making me laugh though - his manager, Tim Clarke, was recently quoted as saying
“The question is, ‘Should Robbie deliver the new album he is due to release to EMI? We have to say the answer is ‘No’. We have no idea how EMI will market and promote the album.”
Well they do have a point, over a million copies of his last opus, ‘Rudebox’ are going to be crushed to pave Chinese roads so maybe the new promotional tool will be to have his new release Read the rest of this entry »

Bob Mould on BBC Radio
Author: tulip
One of my musical hero types, Bob Mould, of Husker Du (minus all the accents I can’t find on my keyboard!) Sugar and er Bob Mould fame, is going to be on the Steve Lamacq show on BBC 6 Music. The good bit is, being the Beeb, even if you miss it you can hit the play it again bit and listen to is later in the week, so no excuse whatsoever for missing Bob on my fave radio show…..a months detention for anyone that doesn’t.

It seems that poor old Fergie must be part of a socialogical experiment by her management to see if she can narrate their own career suicide…

Australia - Radio Ga Ga
Author: tulip
While I was off and about down-under, I spent an awfully long time in my car…well actually my brother’s, but he was not around to make use of it so I thought I would make sure it was kept warm….anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, radio in Australia, is it any good? Well if you like Avril Lavigne, Snow Patrol and the Foo Fighters, then it’s pretty good as these seem to be on continual rotation. To start with I wasn’t too bothered, I mean they could have picked worse people out there and besides you can always turn over. However after a while I tried to turn over, but I couldn’t. Radiohead’s new album - who needs a label anyway
Author: tulip
Radiohead have announced their new album will be released on October 10th from their website. They will be releasing an all-singing, all-dancing, all-moodily-staring-at-the-floor boxed set thing with some vinyl, cds, photos etc for £40 (about $80) but the most interesting bit is that they are letting people download the album for as much as they think it’s worth. Since Radiohead do not have a record deal, they can do what they like and they have realised that the old model for music has pretty much been killed off by the internet. The record labels, who are supposed to be the experts in this stuff, still haven’t realised this and still keep plugging away with the old ways of doing things and getting upset about this, or Prince giving away his new album with a newspaper.
